Mini Bio
Here's my bio:
Chris Hines is an Award Winning Film & Media Composer, Music Producer, and Synthesist in the entertainment industry.
A Motown native, Chris was influenced by the Motown sound, Detroit Symphony, Detroit techno, hip hop, and soul at an early age. Chris began developing his musical prowess at the age of four when he was fascinated by playing his Grandmother’s piano along to the radio.
A synesthetic, seeing sound as a virtual image, Chris fell in love with music production in high school. Soon after he began taking piano lessons in high school, Chris taught himself how to play the drums and joined a high school production group.
As a freshman in college, Chris worked on his brother, Brandon’s critically acclaimed R&B album “Love Music”, which spread all over the world. During his senior year in college at Howard University, Chris produced an award winning R&B and Hip-Hop compilation album entitled Mastermind. Soon after graduating from Howard University with a bachelor degree in marketing, he received his first grammy nomination for his work as a producer on the song “Holla If Ya Need Me” for Trey Songz’s Ready album, at the young age of 21.
Aside from working on film & media projects, Chris is constantly releasing music and working with artists. Notable releases include: Ambient New Age EP “Black Garden”, eclectic electronic instrumental album “Catharsis”, electro-funk single “Humanity”, and hip hop covers of “Linus & Lucy” and John Carpenter’s “Halloween Theme”.
One project that is near and dear to Chris is “Black Garden”. 99% of streaming royalties from the “Black Garden” EP are automatically sent to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.
Chris has also designed sounds in world-class virtual instruments Omnisphere & Trilian for Spectrasonics Inc., which are used by the top producers and composers in the world.
Currently an active member of the Society of Composers & Lyricists and other industry organizations, Chris is deeply invested in the music and film industry.
Specializing in electronic, cinematic, ambient, hip hop and R&B, Chris enjoys fusing genres to serve the purpose of the project at hand. Chris continues to score films and other visual media projects as a film and media composer, and to produce alongside the best songwriters, producers, and artists in the music industry.
