Mini Bio
Shruti Kumar is a composer/producer/conductor based in LA. Her work has spanned the film/tv, pop, and concert worlds and she often finds herself in projects that mix genres and experiences. She has worked at Remote Control Productions (Hans Zimmer's Studio) with Zimmer, Henry Jackman, and others. She then collaborated with artists including Alicia Keys, Nas, No Doubt, Vampire Weekend, Garbage, and Fiona Apple, and conducted/orchestrated large scale productions -- most recently at The Walt Disney Concert Hall in conjunction with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Gxrlschool helming BREATHEWATCHLISTENTOUCH: The Work and Music of Yoko Ono, which the LA Times called "a vision for the way forward". Kumar spent the majority of the past year in London doing a residency with Spitfire Audio and Strongroom Studios working with other artists as well as weaving together several years of collected sounds for her upcoming album, "Nodding Terms" featuring the London Contemporary Orchestra. Recently, she scored animated festival favorite "Passage" (dir. Asavari Kumar), and "Esther In Wonderland" (dir. Stephanie Bollag) which premiered at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival. She is currently completing the score to "Daddy" (dir. Christian Coppola). She is a radio host at dublab ("Let's Shake On It"), which brings together esteemed diverse musicians in conversation and collaboration. In 2020, she founded Sound Travels (www.soundcantravel.com) -- a remote hire platform engaging with culture & arts advocacy as well as aiming to level the musical playing field. She completed her undergraduate studies at Columbia University and The Juilliard School, and received her Masters Degree in Music Composition for Film & Multimedia at NYU. Kumar is now an adjunct instructor of music production and technology at NYU's Clive Davis Institute.
